1.    WHAT THIS PRODUCT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

This product is a traditional herbal medicine containing Artichoke leaf dry extract. Each hard capsule contains 320 mg of extract (as dry extract) from Artichoke leaf (Cynara scolymus L.), equivalent to 1280-1920 mg of Artichoke leaf. Extraction solvent: Water.

This is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the relief of digestive complaints, such as indigestion, upset stomach, nausea, feelings of fullness and flatulence (wind), particularly caused by overindulgence of food and drink, based on traditional use only.

2.    BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS PRODUCT Do not take this product if you

-    are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients (see section 6) or to plants of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family such as marigolds, artichokes or daisies

-    are pregnant or breast feeding

-    have a history of obstructive gall bladder disease

-    have any condition affecting the bile ducts

-    have gallstones

-    have hepatitis

-    are under 18 years of age

Tell your doctor before taking this product if you have an intolerance to some sugars (see section 6).

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other

medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

3.    HOW TO TAKE THIS PRODUCT

Always take the product exactly as your doctor, pharmacist or qualified healthcare practitioner has told you. You should check with your qualified healthcare practitioner if you are not sure.

Adults & the elderly take 2 capsules twice daily. Swallow the capsules whole with some water or other liquid. Do not chew the capsules.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

Taking with food and drink

Take the capsules before food.

If you take more Cypar® Artichoke Capsules than you should

Speak to a doctor, pharmacist or qualified healthcare practitioner and show them this leaflet. A small overdose (up to 10 capsules) may not cause any symptoms. In the event of a large overdose (more than 10 capsules), advice should be sought from a doctor.

If you forget to take Cypar® Artichoke Capsules

Continue to take your usual dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten capsule.

4.    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Cypar® Artichoke Capsules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects associated with the use of

artichoke leaf extract are generally mild and often temporary.

Possible side effects are gastric complaints such as slight diarrhoea with abdominal spasm, nausea and heartburn.

Allergic reactions may occur. If you experience any allergic reactions, stop taking the product and consult your doctor.

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme, Website: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5. HOW TO STORE THIS PRODUCT

Do not store above 25 °C. Store in original package. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the product after the expiry date which is stated on the blister pack and the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Return any out-of-date capsules to your S pharmacist who will dispose of them for you.

The other ingredients are lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, talc, silica colloidal anhydrous, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), quinoline yellow (E104) and brilliant blue (E133).

Important information about some of the ingredients

Each capsule contains 93 mg lactose.

What Cypar® Artichoke Capsules looks like and contents of the pack

The capsules are green opaque. Each pack contains 30, 60, 100 or 200 capsules.

Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
