If you have ony questions or are unsure about anything ask your doctor, dentist or pharmacist The nome of your medicine is 1% w/v lignocame Injection. WHAT IS 1% W/V LIGNOCAJNE INJECTION? lignocoine is a locolly oding onoesthetic.

This medicine contains 1% Egnocoine hydrochloride as the octive ingredient. ft also contains sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide and Water for Injections, lignocaine Injection t$ supplied in single dose plastic ampoules containing 2ml, 5ml, 10ml or 20mi.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE NECESSARY WHILE TAKING THIS PRODUa

You should not receive this medicine if you have ony of tho following conditions:

-    certom types of heart disease, particularly those affecting cordioc conduction.

-    previous hypersensitivity to local onoesthetics

-    if o member of your family hos experienced severe increases in body temperature after receiving a onoesthetKS

-    Wood disorders affecting clotting of the blood

• previous infections in the area around an injection Under certain conditions you may receive Lignocaine Iniedion only if particular core is token. These include certain heart or respiratory conditions, shock, diseases of the liver and kidney, low blood pressure or blood volume, and any condition which moy lead to on increased risk of fits.

1% w/v Lignocaine Injection can interact with some other medicines, therefore you should tell your doctor or dentist if you are taking atiy other medication.    •

In particular, the following medicines may interact with lignocoine.

Beta blockers (eg propranolol, metopralol), cimelidine, norepinephrine, phenytoin ond phenobarbitol , peripheral musde relaxonfs especially suxamethonium chloride and diozepom.

This medicine can occasionally cause effects such as drowsiness or confusion. If affected you should not drive or operate machinery.

CAN YOU USE THIS PRODUCT DURING PREGNANCY OR WHILE BREAST FEEDING?

Your dodor or dentist will only administer this medicine while you are pregnant if he/she considers it essential.

Lignocaine is secreted into breast milk. Your doctor or dentist will therefore be particulorfy careful if you are breast feeding. In general, however, it will not be necessary to discontinue . breast feeding.

You will receive this medicine as on injection given into either o van, the skin, musde or nerve area. Your doctor or dentist will decide how much medicine you will receive. The normal maximum dosoge is 200mg or approximately 20m 1 of 1% lignocaine injection.

In certain groups of people the dose of Lignocoine given is reduced. This includes pregnant women, babies, young children, the elderly and people with heort failure and liver disease.

WHAT MAY HAPPEN AFTER USING 1% LIGNOCAINE INJECTION?

Lignocaine Injection moy occosaonoily couse the following unwonted affects:

Sleepiness, dizziness, vertigo, confusion, blurred vision, tremWing, tingling, temperature fluctuations, mood changes ond stomoch upsets.

In oddition, the following side effects may occur very occasionally (usually if you have received an overdosage): Convulsions, impaired consciousness including unconsciousness, breolhing may become shollow (or in extreme coses even stop), reduced Wood pressure, low pulse rote, abnormal heort rate and shock.

Allergic reactions ranging from rashes to severe hypersensitivity reochons.

When used dunng childbirth, lignocoine can leod to a reduction in the baby's heart rate.

Elderly patients may be more prone to some of the effects mentioned above.

Contact your dodor if you experience any unusual effects or if one of the side effects listed above occurs in a severe way. 1% Lignocoine Injedion will be stored below 25*C before it is given to you. The dodor cr dentist will check that the expiry dale has not been passed.
