This medicine is available without prescription; however you still need to take Altacite Plus carefully to get the best results from it.

1. WHAT ALTACITE PLUS IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
• Altacite Plus contains an antacid and an antiflatulent (relieves wind).
* Altacite Plus is used to relieve stomach (abdominal) discomfort and pain in the following conditions: peptic ulceration (excess acid in the stomach that damages the protective layer of mucus that lines the stomach); dyspepsia (pain in the chest or upper abdomen caused by, or aggravated by, acid); gastritis (inflammation of the stomach); heartburn (including in pregnancy), especially when associated with backward flow of acid or hiatus hernia (condition where the stomach protrudes through the diaphragm).
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE ALTACITE PLUS Do not take Altacite Plus if:
You are allergic to any of the ingredients (see Section 6).
Altacite Plus may reduce the effectiveness of a group of antibiotics called tetracyclines. It is important that you tell your doctor or pharmacist about ALL medicines that you are taking, including those bought without a prescription.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant.
3. HOW TO TAKE ALTACITE PLUS Shake the bottle before use.
• Adults:The usual dose is 10 ml (i.e. two teaspoons) between meals and at bedtime.
• Children (8-12 years old):The usual dose is half the adult dose 5 ml (i.e. one teaspoon) between meals and at bedtime.
• You should follow your doctor’s or pharmacist's advice about how and when to take this product.
• If symptoms persist for more than 14 days consult your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.
If you take more than you should:
• If you take too much medicine you should tell your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.
If you forget to take Altacite Plus:
• If you forget to take your medicine at the correct time, don’t worry. Do not take twice as much next time. Just take your medicine as soon as you remember and carry on as before.
Like all medicines, Altacite Plus can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Possible side effects are diarrhoea and vomiting, but these are uncommon. If any of the side effects get serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use your medicine after the expiry date on the label. Once you have opened the bottle, discard any remaining medicine after 28 days.
Keep your medicine in the original bottle and store below 25°C.

The active ingredients are:
Each 5ml spoonful of Altacite Plus contains 500mg of Hydrotalcite light and 125mg of Activated Dimeticone Ph Eur.
The other ingredients are: Sodium carboxymethylcellulose, tween 80, sorbitan mono-oleate, sorbitan tristearate, glyceryl monostearate, colloidal silicon dioxide, methylcellulose 2500, microcrystalline cellulose, bronopol, spearmint polvaromas 077, saccharin sodium, chloroform and purified water.
What Altacite Plus looks like:
_ Altacite Plus suspension is a thick white liquid available in bottles of 100ml, 250ml and 500ml. Not all S pack sizes may be available.
