Ammonium Hydrogen Carbonate, Ipecacuanha Tincture Relieves the symptoms of productive coughs

IMPORTANT: Peel this label at corner and read BEFORE use. Do not tear off, re-fix for future use.

For symptomatic relief of productive (chesty) coughs.

Take the solution by mouth.

SHAKE THE BOTTLE

Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: Take 2 to 4 x 5ml spoonfuls. Repeat after 4 hours if required, but not more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE.

Do not take with other cough medicines. If symptoms persist consult your doctor.

Active ingredients per 5ml:

ammonium hydrogen carbonate 100mg, ipecacuanha tincture BP 1999 0.15ml.

Also contains amongst other ingredients: ethanol. Alcohol 2.7 vol%.

Once opened use within 2 months.

This medicine contains ammonium hydrogen carbonate and ipecacuanha tincture, which are expectorants. They help loosen phlegm and relieve chesty coughs.

1. Before you use this medicine

□do    the medicine if you have....

•    An allergy to any of the ingredients listed in section 3.

   Liver problems.

   Kidney problems.

•    A heart condition.

   Shock.

•    Or are at risk from seizures.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding. Ammonia & Ipecacuanha Mixture should not be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding unless the doctor has told you to do so.

^^Important ingredient information

• This product contains 2.6 vol% ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 427mg per 20ml dose, equivalent to 10ml of beer or 4ml of wine per dose. Harmful for those suffering from alcoholism.

To be taken into account in pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, and high risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy.

2.    Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Ammonia & Ipecacuanha Mixture can have side effects, although these don’t affect everyone.

Possible side effects are:

•    Feeling sick.

•    Being sick.

If you notice these or any other side effects, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They will tell you what to do.

3.    Further information

Alt you accidentally take too much see a doctor straight away. Take the pack with you to show which medicine you have swallowed.

^^Long term abuse of ipecacuanha may cause serious damage to the heart.

•    Do not use after the expiry date. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

•    Return any unused medicine to the pharmacy for disposal.

The active ingredients per 5ml are: ammonium hydrogen carbonate 100mg, ipecacuanha tincture BP 1999 0.15 ml.

The other ingredients are: liquorice liquid extract, concentrated camphor and anise waters (camphor, anise oil, ethanol), chloroform and purified water.

What the medicine looks like

Ammonia & Ipecacuanha Mixture is a brown liquid which smells of camphor and aniseed.

It is supplied in 200ml bottles.
