The doses should be spaced as evenly as possible through the day. It is not normally necessary to take a dose in the middle of the night, unless instructed to do so by your doctor.
Adults
The usual dose is 250mg three times daily. Your doctor may double the dose in severe infections. You should NOT double the dose unless told to do so by your doctor. The maximum daily dose is 6g.
The following infections may only need a short course of treatment:

You should take your medicine as directed by your doctor. The pharmacist’s label should tell you how much to take and how often. If it does not or you are not sure ask your doctor or pharmacist.
You should keep taking this medicine until the prescribed course is finished; if you stop too soon, the infection may start up again. If you still feel unwell at the end of the prescribed course of treatment, you should contact your doctor.
If you have accidentally taken a large amount, drink plenty of water and consult your doctor or local casualty department immediately.
If you have forgotten to take your medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Then go on as before, but do not take two doses within approximately one hour of each other. If you are at all concerned about this you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
