1.    WHAT THIS PRODUCT IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Napiers Pro-Vitality Max Strength Herbal Elixir is a traditional herbal medicinal product containing extracts of Corn Silk herb, Damiana leaf and Saw palmetto fruit. For full details see Section 6.

Napiers Pro-Vitality Max Strength Herbal Elixir is a traditional herbal medicinal product used to relieve fatigue, exhaustion and debility, based on traditional use only.

2.    BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS PRODUCT

Do not take this product if you:

•    are under 18 years old

•    are pregnant or breastfeeding

•    are allergic to any of the ingredients

•    have liver or kidney problems

•    have surgery planned


Important information about some of the ingredients in this medicine

This medicinal product contains 26 % of alcohol i.e. up to 2.1g per 10 ml dose, equivalent to 52 ml of beer and 22 ml of wine per dose. Harmful for people suffering from alcoholism or liver-disease. If you are in a high risk group (patients with liver disease or epilepsy) you should consider the alcohol content before taking this product.

This product contains 700 mg of sucrose per 10 ml dose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.

The product should be discontinued prior to planned surgery due to the possible increased risk of bleeding associated with Saw Pametto.


Taking other medicines:

Tell your doctor about any other medicines you are taking, including any bought without a prescription.


3. HOW TO TAKE THIS PRODUCT

For oral use only.

Adults and the elderly:

Two 5 ml teaspoonfuls three times a day.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

If your symptoms worsen or persist after one week, speak to your doctor, pharmacist or qualified healthcare practitioner.

If you take too much (overdose).

If you take more than the recommended dose, speak to a doctor, pharmacist or qualified healthcare practitioner and take this leaflet with you.

An overdose of this product may result in alcohol intoxication: the amount of alcohol in a full bottle (31 g in 150 ml; 52 g in 250 ml; 104 g in 500 ml: equivalent to 1.3, 2.2 or 4.3 large glasses of wine respectively) may result in intoxication and should be treated accordingly (see Section 2).

If you forget to take this product

Continue to take your usual dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose. It does not matter if you miss a dose.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Rare cases of allergic reactions, burping and gastrointestinal discomfort have been reported with Saw palmetto.

There has been one case report of intraoperative haemorrhage associated with the use of Saw palmetto.

If other adverse reactions not mentioned above occur, a doctor or qualified health care practitioner should be consulted.

5.    HOW TO STORE THIS PRODUCT

Do not use this product after the expiry date. The expiry date is printed on the label and on the bottom of the carton.

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original container.

Return all medicines to a pharmacist for safe disposal.

Keep this product out of the reach and sight of children.

Each 5 ml contains:

0.30 ml of extract (as liquid extract) from Corn Silk Herb (Zea mays L.) (1:1) Extraction Solvent: Ethanol 45% v/v

0.38 ml of extract (as liquid extract) from Damiana Leaf (Turnera diffusa Will.) (1:1) Extraction Solvent: Ethanol 45 % v/v

1.53 ml of extract (as liquid extract) from Saw Palmento Fruit (Serenoa repens (Bartram)) (1:1) Extract Solvent: Ethanol: Ethanol 45% v/v

Also contains syrup (sucrose), Cinnamon oil, glycerol oil, Orange oil, Beetroot Powder and Water.

Corn is grown throughout the world and provides sweetcorn to eat. An extract from the silky tassels that surround the cob is used in this medicine.

What is Damiana?

Damiana is a small shrub with aromatic yellow flowers and fig-like fruit that is native to Texas and Central America. An extract from the leaves is used in this medicine.

What is Saw Palmetto?

Saw Palmetto is a small fan palm native to Florida. An extract from the drupes or 'berries' is used to make this medicine.
