TCP Sore Throat Lozenges

Read all of this leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you. This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use TCP Sore Throat Lozenges carefully to get the best results from it.

1. What TCP Sore Throat Lozenges are and what they are used for

TCP Sore Throat Lozenges contain a local anaesthetic to soothe the pain and discomfort of sore throats with an antiseptic action to fight the bacterial infection that can cause sore throats.

2. Before you take TCP Sore Throat Lozenges

Do not take this medicine if:

✓    you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of TCP Sore Throat Lozenges (see section 6)

✓    it is for a child younger than 6 years.

Taking other medicines

TCP Sore Throat Lozenges are not known to interfere with other medicines.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

As with all medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using TCP Sore Throat Lozenges during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.


Important information about some of the ingredients of TCP Sore Throat Lozenges

If you have been told by your doctor that you or your child has an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before using TCP Sore Throat Lozenges.

3. How to take TCP Sore Throat Lozenges


TCP Sore Throat Lozenges can be used by adults, the elderly and by children over 6 years old. Take one lozenge and dissolve slowly in the mouth. Repeat every 3 hours or as required.

Do not take more than 12 lozenges in a 24 hour period.

Children under 6 years: Not recommended.

If the condition does not improve or becomes worse, talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

If you miss a dose:

Take a lozenge as soon as your remember then adjust the time for the next dose. Do not take two lozenges at the same time to make up for the missed dose.

If you take too many:

Do not take more than 12 lozenges in a 24 hour period. Taking too much can cause an upset stomach. If you feel discomfort, tell your doctor or your pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

No side effects have been reported for TCP Sore Throat Lozenges.

If you feel any side effects or unwell after taking TCP Sore Throat Lozenges, tell your doctor or pharmacist straightaway.

5. Storing TCP Sore Throat Lozenges

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original package in a dry place to protect them from moisture. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use TCP Sore Throat Lozenges after the date (month and year) printed after "USE BY" on the pack. If the expiry date has passed, take the product back to your pharmacist for safe disposal. Do not put it in your household waste.

6. Further information

TCP Sore Throat Lozenges are pale green, menthol flavoured lozenges that come in a blister pack. There are 24 lozenges in a pack.

Active substances:

Each lozenge contains hexylresorcinol 2.4 mg.

Other ingredients:

Menthol, eucalyptus oil, quinoline yellow (E104), acid brilliant green (E142), sucrose/liquid glucose solids.
