Uses: Cetraben Protect is a moisturising and antimicrobial emollient cream, which can be used as a soap substitute. It forms a barrier on the skin and traps moisture. This helps to prevent and treat dryness and itching which are common problems for people with eczema and dermatitis. The active ingredient, chlorhexidine gluconate, is an antimicrobial which helps combat the germs that make certain types of eczema worse.
Do not take/use Cetraben Protect Cream if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to chlorhexidine gluconate or any of the other ingredients of Cetraben Protect Cream (see section 6).
Special warnings and precautions:
• Cetraben Protect Cream may in rare cases cause severe allergic reactions, leading to a drop in blood pressure and even to unconsciousness. Early symptoms of a severe allergic reaction may be skin rash or asthma. If you notice these symptoms, stop using Cetraben Protect Cream and contact your doctor as soon as possible (see under section 4: “Possible side effects”).
• Avoid contact with the ears and eyes, and deep cuts to the head or spine. Wash out with water if necessary. If any cream gets into the ears remove by very careful swabbing.
• A reaction to this product is more likely if you have problems with the skin on your lower legs (such as ulcers or dry itchy rash).

• This product may be less effective if mixed with soap or detergents.
• If it comes into contact with fabrics, brown stains may develop if you used bleach to remove it.
• If you swallow this product go to your nearest accident and emergency department. If a significant quantity of the cream is accidentally swallowed the following may occur: a feeling of drunkenness, feeling sick, vomiting, slurred speech, a staggering walk and drowsiness. In the case of massive ingestion stomach upset and liver damage may result.
