Cystitis Relief Tablets

Anhydrous Sodium Carbonate, Citric Acid, Sodium Bicarbonate

Read this leaflet carefully because it contains important information for you.

This medicine is available without prescription for you to treat minor conditions. However, you still need to take it carefully to get the best results from it.

•    Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.

•    Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or advice.

•    You must contact a pharmacist or doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 2 days.

What this medicine is for

This medicine contains sodium carbonate, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate, which react together as part of the ‘effervescent' (fizzing) process to form sodium citrate. Sodium citrate is an alkalinising agent, which is used to make the urine less acidic.

This medicine relieves the symptoms of cystitis in women.

Before you take this medicine

This medicine can be taken by adult women. However, some people should not take this medicine or should seek the advice of their pharmacist or doctor first.

Do not take

•    If you have heart or kidney disease

•    If you have high blood pressure or diabetes

•    If you are on a low sodium diet (each tablet contains 535mg of sodium)

•    If you have an intolerance to some sugars, unless your doctor tells you to (this medicine contains sorbitol)

•    If you are pregnant

Talk to your pharmacist or doctor

• If your symptoms do not go away within 2 days

How to take this medicine

Check the foil is not broken before use. If it is, do not take that tablet.

Dissolve the tablets in water and drink the solution.

This medicine is not expected to cause side effects. If you notice any side effect, please tell your pharmacist or doctor.

How to store this medicine

Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children, preferably in a locked cupboard.

Do not use after the Use By date on the end flap of the carton and the blister (marked ‘EXP'). The Use By date refers to the last day of that month.

What is in this medicine

Each effervescent tablet contains Anhydrous Sodium Carbonate 137.5mg, Citric Acid 1470mg, Sodium Bicarbonate 1735mg, which react together to form the equivalent of 2250mg of Sodium Citrate.

As well as the active ingredient, the tablets also contain sorbitol (E420), sodium saccharin, flavour (pineapple). The pack contains 12 white tablets.
