• The tablets contain sucrose; if you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS FOR


alpharm 3-ln-1 Antacid are white, smooth tablets which contain active ingredients which belong to a group of drugs called antacids which are used to neutralise acid in the stomach when too much acid is produced.

This medicine is used to relieve the symptoms of indigestion, heartburn, excess acid, latulence (trapped wind), dyspepsia (pain in he chest or upper abdomen caused by, or iggravated by, acid) and nausea.

BEFORE YOU TAKE THE MEDICINE


Do not take this medicine if:

•    You are allergic to any of the ingredients listed in Section 6.

!• You have kidney problems.

•    You suffer from a condition in which your blood contains less than the normal amount of phosphates (hypophosphataemia) or are on a low phosphate diet.

|» You are taking cardiac glycosides to treat heart conditions (e.g. digoxin).

Do not take this product within two hours of taking other medicines by mouth, as it can interfere with the action of some other medicines.

Check with your doctor before taking this

medicine if:

•    You are pregnant or breast feeding.

|» You are taking any other medicines as these tablets may affect the way other medicines work.

How to take:

The tablets should be sucked or chewed. Dose and how often to take:

Take 1 -2 tablets as required.

If pain or discomfort persists this dose can be repeated. Up to a maximum of 16 tablets in 24 hours can be taken.


Do not give to children under 12 years of age.

Do not take more than 16 tablets in any 24 hours.

Do not take the tablets for more than 24 hours unless advised by a doctor.

If symptoms persist for more than 24 hours consult your doctor.

DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE.


IF YOU TAKE TOO MUCH: If you take more tablets than you should, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

[] POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Most people take the tablets without any problems, but as with all medicines, side effects may occur occasionally.

Allergic reaction:

Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you notice:

•    skin rashes or other signs of allergic reaction! such as itching, swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty in breathing.

Other side effects are:

•    constipation.

•    mild laxative effects.

Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can alsoi report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard.

By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

What is in this medicine:

The active ingredients in the tablets are:

Magnesium carbonate light 175.5mg, calcium carbonate 400mg and aluminium hydroxide 165mg.

The other ingredients in the tablets are:

[Sucrose, mannitol (E421), saccharin sodium, maize starch, peppermint oil and magnesium istearate.
