Read all of this leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine.

This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use this medicine carefully to get the best results from it.

•    Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.

1.    What HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets are and what they are used for

Loratadine is a non-sedating antihistamine for the treatment of some allergic diseases. This medicine acts by blocking the effect of histamine, which is involved in the development of the allergic reaction.

HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets are used for the treatment of symptoms in the following allergic diseases:

Adults and children over 2 years:

Non-seasonal allergic rhinitis - for example allergy to house dust mites or pets (sneezing, itchy, runny and blocked up nose), allergic inflammation of the eyes (itchy, red and watering eyes) and urticaria (swelling, redness and itchiness of the skin).

2.    Before you take HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets

Do not take this medicine and tell your doctor:

•    if you are allergic to loratadine or to any of the other ingredients in the tablets.

Take special care with HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets and tell your doctor:

•    if you suffer from severe liver problems.


Children

This medicine should not be given to children who are less than 2 years of age or who weigh less than 30 kg.

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

If you are having a skin test you must stop taking your tablets at least 48 hours before you have the skin test.

Taking with alcohol

You do not have to avoid alcohol whilst taking this medicine.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Do not take the tablets if you are pregnant, think that you may be pregnant or are breast-feeding your baby.

Driving and using machines

HayTek Allergy 10 mg tablets may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you are affected do not drive or operate machinery.

Important information about some of the ingredients of HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets

This product contains lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.


3.    How to take HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets

This medicine should not be given to children who weigh less than 30 kg or are under 2 years of age.

Always take your medicine exactly as prescribed in this package leaflet. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The usual dosage for adults and children over 12 years:

1 tablet (10mg) daily.

The usual dosage for children 2 to 12 years and who weigh more than 30 kg:

1 tablet (10mg) daily.

If you suffer from severe liver problems you may need to take a lower dose so speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

If you take more HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets than you should

If you have accidentally taken more than the recommended dose, contact your nearest casualty department or tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. You may feel sleepy, have a racing heart-beat or headache.

If you forget to take HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Then go on as before. Do not take two doses at the same time.

If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4.    Possible side effects

Like most medicines, this medicine can sometimes cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

If any of the following happen, stop taking your medicine immediately and tell your doctor or go to the casualty department at your nearest hospital: Cases of allergic reactions such as swelling of the lips, tongue or face (Quincke's oedema) or difficulty breathing and allergic reactions (flat, burning, itchy marks on the skin with swelling). These are very serious side effects If you have them, you may have had a serious allergic reaction. You may need urgent medical attention or hospitalisation.


Common >1% and <10% (less than 1 per 10 but more than 1 per 100): headache, nervousness, tiredness, sleeping problems and increased appetite.

Very rare up to 0.01% (less than 1 per 10,000):

dizziness, irregular or fast hearbeat, feeling sick, dry mouth, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis, symptoms include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea), changes in liver function, hair loss and tiredness.

If any of these side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5.    How to store HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and on the blister. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Medicines should not be disposed of via waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets contain

The active substance is loratadine. One tablet contains 10 mg.

The tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch and magnesium stearate.

What HayTek Allergy 10 mg Tablets look like and the contents of the pack

The tablets are white, round, biconvex tablets with a curved break-score on one side. The tablets can be divided into equal halves.

Your medicine is available in blister packs containing 7 and 14 tablets.
