PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET

Please read this leaflet carefully before taking Merocets.

Keep this leaflet, you may wish to read it again.

Ask your pharmacist if you need more information or advice.

What are these lozenges used for?

These lozenges are for the symptomatic relief of sore throats and other symptoms associated with mouth and throat infections.

Cetylpyridinium chloride has antiseptic properties.

Before taking these lozenges Do not take...

•    If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product.

See ‘What these lozenges contain’ for the full list of ingredients.

Take special care.

•    If your sore throat persists for more than three days consult your doctor.

•    If you are pregnant or breast-feeding talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product

Important information about some of the ingredients.

•    Merocets contain sunset yellow (E110) which may cause allergic reactions.

•    If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking these lozenges.

How to take these lozenges

Adults, the elderly and children 6 years and over:

•    Allow a lozenge to dissolve slowly in the mouth.

•    Take one lozenge every 3 hours as needed.

Children under 6 years:

•    Do not use in children under 6 years of age.

If you take too many lozenges.

If you take more of the lozenges than you should, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects

As with all medicines, these lozenges can have side effects in some people.

•    Some people have experienced a burning feeling of the mouth.

•    There have been very rare reports of allergic skin reactions.

If you develop a rash, stop taking the product and consult your doctor.

If you feel you are reacting badly to this medicine in any way, or notice any other side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

How to store these lozenges

•    Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

•    Do not store above 25°C.

•    Do not use this product after the expiry date shown on the pack.

•    If you find that you still have this medicine after its expiry date, return it to your local pharmacist who will dispose of it properly.

What these lozenges contain

Each lozenge contains 1.4mg of the active ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride.

They also contain sucrose, glucose liquid (82% solids), peppermint oil, sunset yellow (FD & C No. 6) E110, quinolene yellow (FD & C No. 10) E104, ethyl alcohol and purified water.

Each pack contains 24 lozenges.
