ALLERGY EYE DROPS

Please read all of this leaflet carefully before you start using your eye drops. Keep this leaflet. ! you may need to read it again.    |

Remember - this medicine is for you. Never give it to other people - it may harm them, even if ] their symptoms appear to be the same.

1. What is your medicine for?

[The active ingredient, sodium cromoglicate, belongs to a class of medicines known as    |

anti-inflammatory/anti-allergy agents. Optrex Allergy Eye Drops Sodium cromoglicate 2.0 % w/v ] are for the relief and treatment of allergic red, watery, itchy and puffy eyes caused by hayfever, ! [louse mites and other particles e.g. pet hairs.    !

Allergy eyes happen when allergens come into contact with sensitive eyes. When this happens, a[ number of chemicals are released from special cells in the covering of the eye, making them Itchy, red and watery.    I

'l. Before using your medicine

Do not use this product if you    [

1 • are allergic to sodium cromoglicate    1

! • are allergic to any of the ingredients shown under section 6 "what is in the pack?"

You must be sure that your irritated eyes are the result of allergy or have been previously diagnosed by your doctor to suffer from allergy.    !

you can be confident that you have allergic eyes if:    [

1 • both eyes are affected

!    •    you have a runny or blocked nose as well    !

[    •    your eyesight is not affected.    j

but if you have:    !

] • no nose symptoms    |

'    •    only one eye is affected    1

!    •    your sight is affected    !

you cannot be sure that you are suffering from allergic eyes and should go and see your doctor | or pharmacist before you use these drops.    |

pregnancy and breast-feeding    [

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

Driving and using machines

After using drops, you may get temporary blurred vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until 1 your vision is clear. If in doubt, talk to a pharmacist or doctor.    [

Important information about some of the ingredients of Optrex Allergy Eye Drops

[These eye drops contain benzalkonium chloride which may cause eye irritation and is known to [ discolour soft contact lenses.    |

Avoid contact with soft contact lenses.

Remove contact lenses prior to application and wait at least 15 minutes    [

before reinsertion.    |

Applying the drops    [

'To be used in the eye(s) only.

! 1. Check the seal is not broken before first use.    I

| 2. Wash and dry your hands.    |

i 3. Remove the plastic cap from the eye drop tip.    1

I 4. Tilt your head back while seated or lie down on your back.    I

| 5. Gently pull the lower eyelid downwards and look up, (as indicated in the pictograms below) | ' 6. Place the tip of the bottle close to your eye. Squeeze the bottle and let one drop fall into the I space between the lower eyelid and the eye. Take care that the tip of the bottle does not I | touch your eye, the skin around your eye or your fingers.    |

' 7. Close your eye for a moment.

I 8. Repeat for the other eye.    I

| 9. Replace the cap straight away.    |

[Whilst applying the drops, do not [ • breathe on or touch the dropper nozzle ' • touch the eyes or eyelids with the dropper nozzle ! • share your eye drops with anyone else.

For external use only.

|Dose

[Optrex Allergy Eye Drops are recommended for adults and children.

[Gently squeeze one or two drops into each eye four times a day.

'If you suffer from allergic eyes for more than three months of the year, see your doctor even if [Optrex Allergy Eye Drops soothe your eyes. You should not use this product continuously for [more than three months without talking to your doctor first.

Ilf your eyes get worse or are no better after 2 days of using the eye drops, see your pharmacist [or doctor.

Ilf you forget to use your drops

[If you forget to use a dose of Optrex Allergy Eye drops, use it as soon as you remember and then [go on as before.

[4. Possible side effects

[Some people find that their eyes sting, burn, become irritated or that their vision is blurred after ■using the drops. This should only last for a short time. If the stinging is severe or lasts for a long [time, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

[Stop using the drops and talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you experience any other 'undesirable effects whilst using this medicine

[5. Storing your medicine

'Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C.

[Do not use the drops after the "use by" (Exp:) date shown on the bottle or carton. Discard any [unused product within 28 days of opening, as the preservative can only keep it sterile in use for a limited time.

[6. What is in the pack?

'Each pack contains 10ml eye drops(approximately 250 drops). The drops contain sodium Icromoglicate 2.0% w/v (active ingredient) Other ingredients are benzalkonium chloride, [disodium edetate, purified water.
