PARACETAMOL TABLETS BP 500mg

Each tablet contains the following active ingredient:

Paracetamol BP 500mg

In addition, they also contain the following inactive ingredients:

Maize starch Sodium starch glycollate Magnesium stearate Potassium Sorbate (E202) Pre gelatinised maize starch

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT PARACETAMOL TABLETS BP 500mg

Please read this leaflet carefully before you start to use this product. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything, ask your Doctor or Pharmacist.

The white scored tablets come in child resistant containers of 50 or 100 tablets.

These tablets have both pain-relieving and temperature-reducing properties.

USES

For the relief of headaches and period pains and the symptomatic relief of colds, flu and feverishness.

BEFORE TAKlNG PARACETAMOL TABLETS BP 500mg

The following information should be read before using this medicine:

1. Make sure Paracetamol Tablets BP 500mg are suitable for you to use - ask your doctor or pharmacist.

2.    Do not use this product if you are sensitive to Paracetamol or any of the ingredients listed at the beginning of this leaflet.

3.    Do not give to children under six years of age.

4.    Do not take this medicine if you are taking barbiturates (a type of sleeping tablet), anticonvulsants (to treat epilepsy), tricyclic antidepressants (to treat depression), chloramphenicol (to treat ear infections), cholestyramine, domperidone or metoclopramide. If in doubt, consult your Doctor.

5.    Do not take alcohol with this medicine.

6.    Do not exceed the stated dose.

7.    Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or severe kidney disease.

HOW TO TAKE PARACETAMOL TABLETS 500mg BP

To be taken every three to four hours when needed.

Adults:    One - two tablets    Maximum: Eight daily

Children 6-12 years: Half to one tablet    Maximum: Four daily

Children under six: On medical advice only.

If symptoms persist consult your doctor.

Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS

The following - undesirable effects have been reported following use of this product:

•    Skin rashes or allergic responses.

•    Blood disorders (although these may not be due to paracetamol).

If you experience any other form of reaction not mentioned above, stop taking these tablets and report it to your doctor or pharmacist who will advise you on the necessary action to take.

STORING THIS PRODUCT

Do not use Paracetamol BP 500mg after the expiry date shown on the label, and store out of the reach of children.
