4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Like all medicines this product can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them.

If the following or other side effects occur, stop taking this product and consult your doctor or pharmacist:

• anaphylactic shock (serious allergic reaction which causes swelling of the face or throat) has been reported with the use of Burdock Root. The freguency is not known.

5.    HOW TO STORE POTTER'S CATARRH MIXTURE:

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Do not use Potter's Catarrh Mixture after the expiry date. The expiry date is printed on the label and base of the carton.

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original packaging.

Return any unused medicine to your pharmacist for safe disposal.

Each 5 ml of oral liguid contains:

0.6 ml Liguid Extract Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum L.) (1:1) (eguivalent to 0.6 gm Boneset herb)

Extraction Solvent: Water

0.35 ml Liguid Extract Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.) (1:1) (eguivalent to 0.35 gm Hyssop herb)

Extraction Solvent: Water 0.25 ml Liguid Extract Burdock Root (Arctium lappa L.) (1:1) (eguivalent to 0.25 gm Burdock Root)

This product also contains:

Rectified Spirit (90% ethanol), Capsicum Tincture (capsicum oleoresin, 90% ethanol), Colour Solution (caramel, glycerin, 90% ethanol, water), Cherry Flavouring (non-natural with propylene glycol, water, ethanol), Water.

Potter's Catarrh Mixture is a brown liguid and is available in a 150 ml bottle.

1.    WHAT POTTER'S CATARRH MIXTURE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR:

Potter's Catarrh Mixture is a traditional herbal medicinal product used to relieve the symptoms of nasal catarrh and catarrh of the throat, based on traditional use only. Containing extracts of Boneset, Hyssop and Burdock Root.

2.    BEFORE YOU TAKE POTTER'S CATARRH MIXTURE:

Do not take Potter's Catarrh Mixture:

•    if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or other plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae family

•    if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

•    if you are under 12 years of age

•    if you are taking medicines known to interact with alcohol e.g. metronidazole.

Taking other medicines:

Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

You should not use Potter's Catarrh Mixture if you are pregnant or breastfeeding because there is no evidence that it is safe to do so.

Driving and using machines:

This product contains Ethanol (alcohol) and therefore it is advised that you do not take this medicine if you are going to drive or use machinery.

Important information about some of the ingredients in Potter's Catarrh Mixture:

This product contains 11.7% Ethanol (alcohol) i.e. up to 468 mg per dose (5 ml), eguivalent to 11.7 ml beer or 4.9 ml wine per dose. It may be harmful for those suffering from alcoholism and high-risk groups such as pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and patients with liver disease or epilepsy.

3. HOW TO TAKE POTTER'S CATARRH MIXTURE:

It is important that you follow these instructions carefully.

Shake the bottle well before use.

For oral use:

Adults and the elderly: One 5 ml

teaspoonful three times a day.

Children over 12 years: One 5 ml teaspoonful morning and evening.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

Do not use this product for more than 7 days.

If your condition worsens, symptoms persist for more than 7 days or you get a fever lasting several days, shortness of breath or blood in your saliva, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

If you take too much Potter's Catarrh Mixture:

Stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor or pharmacist.

If you forget to take Potter's Catarrh Mixture:

If you miss a dose, take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you need further advice.
