This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to take

1. What Senokot Dual Relief Tablets are and what they are used for


Senokot Dual Relief Tablets is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the short-term rel ef of occasional constipation and bloating, based on traditional use only.

This product doed not help with weight1 loss.

This product contains Senna Leaf Tinnivelly, Cape Aloes, Celscara Bark, Dandelion Root ahd Fennel Fruit.

2. Before you take Senokot Dual Relief Tablets


Do not take Senbkot Dual Relief Tablets:    I

*    if you are allergic to any of the ingrecpents or other plants qf the Asteraceae/Cpmpositae family or to Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) (aniseed, caraway, celery, coriander and dilQ, anethole

•    if you have blockage or narrowing or the gastro-intestinal tract or bowel

(ileus, intestinal obstruction or stenoiis)    I

*    if you have paralysis or a lack of muscle tone in the bowel (atony)

•    if you have appendicitis, inflammatoijy bowel disease such| as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis


Consult your doptor, after taking thip medicine:

*    if your condition worsens or symptoms persist

■ if there is no bowel movement after 3 days and laxatives are needed every day

*    abdominal paid persists.

If you take too rriany Senokot Dual Relief Tablets:

Stop taking the nfedicine and consult ydur doctor or pharmacist.

It may be harmfulito take too much of this medicine or take it for too long. This is because it may|lead to:    1    |

*    A ‘lazy bowel’, where the muscle in the bowel becomes top relaxed. This

means that bowel emptying happens less often. This can lead to long-term constipation. I    I    I

*    Imbalance of fluids and salts in the body. This can affect the tightness of muscles such ps those in the bowel.. It can also affect the palts in the blood.

*    Low levels of potassium in the blood (called hypo-kalaemia). This can make you tired, dizzy, make your muscles weak and cause an uneven heart-beat.

*    Dehydration, making you thirsty, feel faint and giving you headaches. It can

also mean that you cannot pass enough urine.    1

If you forget to take Senokot Dual Relief Tablets:    1

If you miss a dose, take your next dose pt the usual time. Do pot take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you need furtheradvice.


4. Possible side effects


Like all medicines this product can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them If any of the following or other side effects occur, stop takingthis product and consult your doctor or pharmacist:    I    I

*    the product may produce abdominal pain, spasms and diarrhoea, in particular in patients with irritable colon

*    chronic use may lead to albuminuria and haematuria which is albumin or red blood cells! in the urine

*    allergic reactiohs    such as skin rash, hives (skin bumps) or itchiness around

the anus 1    |    |

*    yellow or red-brown discolouration of urine may occur, which is harmless.

*    swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing (anaphylaxis) dr shortness of breathL seek medical advide if severe

*    if you have severe dehydration |    |

*    if you have persistent or undiagnosed abdominal complaints e.g. pain, nausea or vomiting

*    if you have faebal impaction or rectal bleeding for which ybu don't know

the cause or blood    in stools    i    i

■ if you have already taken a laxative and you are still constipated

*    if you have had a sudden change in bowel habit that has lasted for more than 2 weeks 1

*    if you have livet disease, diabetes, kidney or heart failure I

*    if you are pregnant or breastfeeding i    i

*    if you are undqr 18    years of age.    ,    |

*    if you have problems with your bile duct e.g. infection, blockage or inflammation of your bile duct or gall1 stones or other biliary problems.

*    if you have a stomach ulcer I    I

Consult your doctor before taking this medicine:    i

*    if you suffer frqm kidney disorders .    |

*    if you are taking medicines for a heart condition, medicines inducing QT prolongation, diuretics, adrenocorticosteroids or liquorice root preparations.

Taking other mddicines:

You should consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice if ydu are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicine? obtained without a prescription. It is recommended to use changes in diet and bulk forming medicines to control constipation before using this medicine. Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

You should not ufee Senokot Dual Relief Tablets if you are ptegnant or breastfeeding because there is no evidence that it is safe to do so.

This product contains Sucrose. If you nave been told by your doctor that you have an intdlerance to some sugars, contact your ddctor before taking this medibine.    I    l


3. How to take Senokot Dual Relief Tablets.


It is important to follow these instructiobs carefully.

For oral use:

Normally it is sufficient to take this product up to 2-3 times a week.

Adults and the ejlderly: One or two tablets at bedtime when [necessary.

Do not take more tablets than the leaflet and label tell you to.

Duration of use

Use for more thaib 1 - 2 weeks requires1 medical supervision. Hew users    ^

should start with the lowest dose and increase it to the maxirhum dose if 5 necessary. Once iregularity has been regained dosage should be reduced “ and can usually tpe stopped.    |    |    §2


5. How to store Senokot Dual Relief Tablets


Keep out of the peach and sight of children.

Do not use after the expiry date stated pn the label.

Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original packaging

100 mg Senna Leaf Tinnevelly {Cassia angustifolia Vahl), 45 mg Cape Aloes (A/oe ferox Mill), 30mg Cascara Bark (Fthamnus purshianus D.C.),

30 mg DandeliomRoot (Taraxacum officinale F.H.Wigg), 15 mg Fennel Fruit (Foenicuium vulgqre var. dulce Miller). |    |
