4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
Like all medicines this product can cause side effects, but not everyone gets them.
If any of the following or other side effects occur, including allergic reactions, stop taking this product and consult your doctor or pharmacist:
• Lobelia can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, tremors and dizziness. The frequency is not known.
• Allergic reactions including contact dermatitis may occur after ingesting Elecampane and White Horehound. The frequency is not known.
If other adverse reactions occur, a doctor or a qualified health care practitioner should be consulted.

Reporting of side effects: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. HOW TO STORE POTTER'S COUGH REMOVER:
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Potter's Cough Remover after the expiry date. The expiry date is printed on the label and base of the carton.
Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original packaging.
Return any unused medicine to your pharmacist for safe disposal.

Each 5 ml of oral liguid contains:
12 mg Lobelia Herb (Lobeliainflate LJ 6.5 mg Ipecacuanha Root (Cephaelis ipecacuanha (Brot.))
0.1 ml Liquid Extract White Horehound Herb (MarrubiumvulgareL) (1:1) (equivalent to 100 mg White Horehound Herb) Extraction solvent: Water.
0.075 ml Liquid Extract Elecampane Root (Inulahelenium LJ (1:1) (equivalent to 75 mg Elecampane Root)
Extraction solvent: Water.
0.075 ml Liquid Extract Hyssop Herb (Hyssopusofficinalis LJ (1:1) (equivalent to 75 mg Hyssop Herb)

This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to take Potter's Cough Remover carefully to get the best results from it.

1. WHAT POTTER'S COUGH REMOVER IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR:
Potter's Cough Remover is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the symptomatic relief of coughs, based on traditional use only. Containing Ipecacuanha, Lobelia and Extracts of White Horehound, Elecampane & Hyssop. For full details, see Section 6.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE POTTER'S COUGH REMOVER:
Do not take Potter's Cough Remover:
• if you are allergic to any of the ingredients
• if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• if you are under 12 years of age
• if you are taking medicines known to interact with alcohol (e.g. metronidazole)
• if you have obstruction or inflammation (cholangitis) of the bile duct, liver disease or intestinal obstruction (ileus).
Consult your doctor before taking this product:
• if you have an active peptic ulcer, gall stones or any other disorder affecting the bile ducts
• if you suffer from alcoholism.

Taking other medicines:
Please ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
You should not use Potter's Cough Remover if you are pregnant or breastfeeding because there is no evidence that it is safe to do so.
Driving and using machinery:
This product contains Ethanol (alcohol) and therefore it is advised that you do not take this medicine if you are going to drive or use machinery.
Important information about some of the ingredients in Potter's Cough Remover:
This product contains Sucrose (syrup).
If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
This product also contains 15% v/v Ethanol (alcohol), i.e. up to 1.2 g per dose (10 ml), eguivalent to 30 ml beer or 12.5 ml wine per dose. It may be harmful for those suffering from alcoholism and high-risk groups such as pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
3. HOW TO TAKE POTTER'S COUGH REMOVER:
It is important that you follow the instructions carefully.
Shake bottle well before use.
For oral use.
Adults and children over 12 years:
Take two 5 ml teaspoonfuls after meals three or four times a day.
Do not take for more than 7 days.
Not suitable for children under 12 years.
If your condition worsens or your symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If you experience shortness of breath, high temperature or yellow, green or blood stained sputum, consult your doctor.
If you take too much Potter's Cough Remover:
Stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Overdose may cause alcohol intoxication. See Section 2 'Important information about some of the ingredients in Potter's Cough Remover'.
If you forget to take Potter's Cough Remover:
If you miss a dose, take your next dose at the usual time. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you need further advice.
