Amylmetacresol, 2, 4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol, Lidocaine hydrochloride, Lidocaine base. 24 Antibacterial Anaesthetic lozenges Medicine for severe sore throats.

How do Strepsils Pain Relief Plus lozenges help?

Strepsils pain relief plus lozenges are for the relief of sore throats, throat infections and mouth infections. A powerful anaesthetic rapidly numbs throat pain, whilst a combination of anti-bacterials fights the bacteria which can cause these infections in adults, children and adolescents aged 12 to 18 years of age.

How to use:

This product is for short term use only. You should take the lowest dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve your symptoms. For oral use only.

Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years: one lozenge to be sucked slowly in the mouth every 2 hours as required.

No more than 8 lozenges to be taken in any 24 hour

period. Not recommended for children under 12 years.

WARNING: DO NOT TAKE MORE MEDICINE THAN THE LABEL TELLS YOU TO.

If you take more Strepsils Pain Relief Plus than you should, you may feel drowsy or nauseous. You should seek immediate medical advice in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well.

DOSE

If you think you are pregnant, are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this product.

Do not use this product if:

•    If you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed below.

•    If you have a history of allergy to local anaesthetics of the amide-type.

•    If you have been told you have or may have a rare blood condition called

methaemoglobinaemia.

•    If you suffer from asthma or bronchospasm (wheezing).

This product may be unsuitable if you are intolerable to carbohydrate. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist after 3 days, are accompanied by high fever or headache, or if anything unusual happens.

May occasionally cause allergic reactions.

If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.

If you experience any hypersensitivity to this product i.e rash, stomach pain, nausea or

discomfort of the mouth, stop taking this product and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Reporting of side effects

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard

Do not store above 30°C.

KEEP ALL MEDICINES OUT OF THE SIGHT AND REACH OF CHILDREN

Each lozenge contains the active ingredients: Anaesthetic: Lidocaine hydrochloride Ph.Eur. 10mg. Anti-bacterials: Amylmetacresol B.P0.6mg, 2, 4-Dichlorobenzyl Alcohol 1.2mg. Also contains: Sucrose, Glucose syrup, Tartaric Acid, Flavourings, (levomenthol, peppermint oil, and Star anise oil.), Sodium saccharin, Quinoline Yellow, Indigo carmine. Each lozenge contains 1g of Glucose, 1.5g of sucrose.

The lozenges are contained in a strip pack. The tray contains an appropriate number of lozenges to give pack sizes of 24, 32 and 36 lozenges in a cardboard carton. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
