Important information about Transvasin Heat Rub Cream

•    This medicine relieves rheumatic and muscular pains, and the symptoms of strains and sprains when applied to the skin.

•    It can be used on adults, the elderly and children over 12 years.

•    On broken or sensitive skin.

1.    What the medicine is for

Transvasin Heat Rub Cream provides warming relief from rheumatic and muscular pain and the symptoms of strains and sprains.

2.    Before you use this medicine

Do not use the medicine if you have ....

•    An allergy to any of the ingredients listed in section 6.

•    An allergy to salicylates (e.g. aspirin) or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory

medicines.

   Sensitive or broken skin.

A Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking....

• Anticoagulant medicines e.g. warfarin, as the anti-clotting effects could be increased.

A Pregnant or breastfeeding..

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding.

A Important information about some of the ingredients

• It contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).

• It also contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).



3. How to use this medicine

Apply it to the skin.

©Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years

• Apply a small amount to the affected area and massage until the cream is fully absorbed.

• Apply twice a day to the affected area until symptoms disappear.

• Avoid contact with eyes, genital areas, lips, inner mouth and nose where soft skin may be more sensitive.

• Not recommended for use in children under 12 years old.

• Wash hands well immediately after use.

• Do not cover the treated area with a dressing. • Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight.

FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

A If you swallow some

If you accidentally apply this medicine to a large area of skin and you feel unwell, or if you swallow some, see a doctor straight away. Take the pack with you to show which medicine you have swallowed.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Transvasin Heat Rub Cream can have side effects, although these don't affect everyone.

•    Temporary localised skin reactions such as a severe burning sensation, blistering and skin rashes may occur (possibly delayed).

•    Sensitivity to light may occur if treated areas are exposed to excessive sunlight.

A feeling of warmth and reddening of the skin is normal for this product however, if you notice excessive skin irritation or any other side effect not included above, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They will tell you what to do.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard.

By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.


5.    Storing this medicine

•    Keep it out of the sight and reach of children.

•    Do not store above 25°C.

•    Do not use after the expiry date shown on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

•    Medicine should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of any unused medicine. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What is in this medicine The active ingredients are: hexyl nicotinate 2% w/w, ethyl nicotinate 2% w/w, tetrahydrofurfuryl salicylate 14% w/w.

The other ingredients are: cetostearyl alcohol, stearic acid, polysorbate 20, sorbitan monostearate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), perfume, purified water.

What the medicine looks like

Transvasin Heat Rub Cream is a whiteto off white coloured cream with a strong odour.

It is supplied in 40g and 80g tubes.
