1. WHAT VESAGEX ANTISEPTIC CREAM IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Vesagex Antiseptic Cream is an antiseptic cream

used to treat

•    Cuts and abrasions

•    Minor skin disorders

•    Dry and cracked skin

•    Minor burns

•    Nappy rash


2.    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU USE VESAGEX ANTISEPTIC CREAM

Do not use Vesagex Antiseptic Cream

•    If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to cetrimide or any of the other ingredients of Vesagex Antiseptic Cream, please refer to section 6 ‘What Vesagex Antiseptic Cream contains’

•    Do not use Vesagex Antiseptic Cream if you notice visible signs of deterioration.

Warnings and precautions

When using around your face as it should not be used around the eyes or ears.

If symptoms persist, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

Vesagex Antiseptic Cream contains chlorocresol and cetostearyl alcohol

Chlorocresol may cause allergic reactions, which may show as a skin rash, redness or itching. Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions such as contact dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

3.    HOW TO USE VESAGEX ANTISEPTIC CREAM

Always use Vesagex Antiseptic Cream exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

For external use only.

Vesagex Antiseptic Cream can be used for all ages if children and adults, including babies. Apply liberally as required in all the indications below:

•    Cuts and abrasions (damage to the skin such as grazes)

•    Minor skin disorders

•    Dry and cracked skin

•    Minor burns

•    Nappy rash

First aid: gently wash and dry the affected area, then apply the cream to soothe and help prevent infection.

Nappy rash: when changing the nappy, gently wash and dry the baby’s skin and then apply the cream.

If you use more Vesagex Antiseptic Cream than you should

If you accidentally ingest the cream please contact your doctor or local hospital emergency department. Symptoms may include nausea and vomiting.

4.    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Excessive dryness of the skin may occur in patients who become hypersensitive (allergic) to cetrimide. Hypersensitivity may occur, presenting as localised contact dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

You can also report side effects directly via the Yellow Card Scheme at: www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

5.    HOW TO STORE VESAGEX ANTISEPTIC CREAM

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not store above 25°C.

Do not use Vesagec Antiseptic Cream after the expiry date which is stated on the label.


The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help protect the environment.

6. CONTENTS OF THE PACK AND OTHER INFORMATION What Vesagex Antiseptic Cream contains

•    The active substance is Cetrimide 1% w/v

•    The other ingredients are Chlorocresol,

Liquid paraffin, Cetostearyl alcohol, Glycerol, Verbena oil, Purified water.

What Vesagex Antiseptic Cream looks like and contents of the pack

Vesagex Antiseptic Cream is a white, opaque cream.

White plastic tubs: Pack size 500g.

Aluminium tubes: Pack size 15g, 30g and 60g.
