This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use Ear Wax Remover Drops carefully to get the best results from it.

1.    WHAT EAR WAX REMOVER DROPS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR

The name of your medicine is Ear Wax Remover Drops. They contain the active ingredient Docusate Sodium BP 5.0% w/v. They are used for softening of ear wax to facilitate its removal.

Earwax needs to be removed only if it is causing symptoms or if a clearer view of the eardrum is required. Ear Wax Remover Drops work by softening the hardened ear wax, enabling it to be removed.

2.    BEFORE YOU USE EAR WAX REMOVER DROPS

Do not use Ear Wax Remover Drops if you:

•    are allergic (hypersensitive) to Docusate Sodium or any of the other ingredients of Ear Wax Remover Drops. See section 6.

•    have a damaged (perforated) ear drum

•    have inflammation of the ear

Do not allow Ear Wax Remover Drops to come into contact with the eyes. Rinse out eyes immediately with copious amounts of water.

Take special care with Ear Wax Remover Drops and consult your pharmacist if you:

•    have pain in the ear

•    have an infection in the ear.

Taking other medicines

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken, any other medicines including medicines that you have obtained without prescription.

Pregnancy and Breast Feeding

Please consult your pharmacist if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or if you are breast - feeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.

3. HOW TO USE EAR WAX REMOVER DROPS

Always use Ear Wax Remover Drops as mentioned in this leaflet. If you are not sure of anything, please consult your pharmacist.

When using the ear wax remover, the head should be tilted and the ear plugged with cotton wool, soaked in Ear Wax Remover Drops, as required.

Adults and the elderly:

Instil four drops into the affected ear or ears twice each day for 2-3 days.

Children:

The number of drops may be reduced to the level required to fill the ear with solution.

If you have accidentally ingested large doses of Ear Wax Remover Drops, you may also suffer from diarrhoea. In such a case, please consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

4.    POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Ear Wax Remover Drops can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Very serious side effects - If any of the following happens, stop using Ear Wax Remover Drops and tell your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital emergency department:

•    Stinging or soreness

•    Irritation

If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5.    HOW TO STORE EAR WAX REMOVER DROPS

Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use Ear Wax Remover Drops after the expiry date shown on the pack. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Ear Wax Remover Drops contain

The active substance is Docusate Sodium 5.0%w/v. The other ingredient is Polyethylene Glycol 400 HSE.

What Ear Wax Remover Drops look like

Ear Wax Remover Drops are available in the form of solution. They are available in 10ml glass bottles with removable dropper unit.
